As a photographer I know the Power of a photograph!! I am honored to say that I am part of a non-profit organization called NILMDTS – Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. It gives parents who’s baby dies, or is dying a chance to capture those memories. When a Baby dies their world is turned upside down. There is confusion, sadness, fear, and uncertainty that cannot be explained. There is sorrow where there should have been joy. During this time, it might be impossible for families to know what they might need in order to heal in the future. For families overcome by grief and pain, the idea of photographing their baby may not immediately occur to them. Offering gentle and beautiful photography services in a compassionate and sensitive manner is the heart of this organization. The soft, gentle heirloom photographs of these beautiful babies are an important part of the healing process. They allow families to honor and cherish their babies, and share the spirits of their lives.

NILMDTS is a non-profit organization. Our all-volunteer services are available to all parents experiencing the death of a baby as early as 25 weeks gestation or at the discretion of medical personnel. There are no fees for the memories that we can capture.

Earlier today, I experienced this 1st hand. I received a call saying there was a sweet baby girl named Hannah who at 34 weeks was born sleeping. As a mother my heart cried for this family. I cannot imagine going through this or losing my son. This was my first call and I was nervous and scared. I know that giving these parents these pictures would mean more to them than I can understand. The drive over there was long, and hard. As soon as I got to the hospital I went right into Photographer Mode.
Hannah was beautiful and looked like a sleeping angel. This was the most difficult thing I have had to do in my photography career. Please keep theĀ  Nordstrom Family in your prayer as they get thought this very difficult time.
